Come join us for the 34th annual Lasse Viren 20K trail run at Sycamore Canyon, part of Pt Mugu State Park (Malibu/Oxnard) featuring a fun and scenic course, delicious post race food provided by Aloha Steakhouse, environmentally friendly tech tops, and a very friendly low key atmosphere.
2011 Race: Sunday, October 30th!
Welcome to the Lasse Viren 20K home page. This is the 34th Annual Running of the 20K making it a true classic. Some of the worlds greatest runners have competed in this race including Lasse Viren, Frank Shorter, Adrian Royle, Grete Waitz, and local harrier Gary Tuttle.
All pre-registered race participants will receive recycled polyester blended technical running shirts (please note we ordered 50% recycled polyester / 50% regular polyester but the tags state 100% polyester. We have been assured by GreenLayer Sports they are indeed 50% recycled polyester and are mislabeled. Instead of sending them back to have them re-tagged we opted to keep them as is.)

Packet Pick-Up
If you would like to pick your race shirt and number up early you can do so on Saturday, October 29th between 2 and 4pm at Tri Running located at 2233 Ventura Blvd. in Camarillo. If you do this all you have to do is show up at the starting line on Sunday.
If you would like to pick up your race # and shirt on race morning you can do so beginning at 7:30am on site (Sycamore Canyon.)

***Arrive early on race morning because parking is limited and you may have to park relatively far away and walk.
Where?
Point Mugu State Park, Calif. 9000 W. Pacific Coast Highway. The race is held in Sycamore Canyon, which is part of Pt. Mugu State Park. It is app. 12 miles north of Malibu or 8 miles south of Oxnard on Pacific Coast Highway.

$65 Race Day (if available. We are limited to 350 runners.)

Awards
Top male and female runners as well as top maasters male and top masters female runners receive a FREE PAIR of Salomon trail running shoes.
Age Group Winners receive free pair of Drymax trail running socks.
*Age group awards (custom ceramic tiles) 3-deep in 5-year age increments.
Course
I mapped out a rough outline of the course HERE. Play around with the settings to get a better idea of where the race takes place. The race starts about 1/2 mile up from the initial marker you see (which is the finish.) The starting marker is just before the 12-mile marker (make sure mile markers are turned on.) Also make sure you look at the map in satellite view. This site is really fun once you get familiar with it. Use it to measure your training runs!

Aloha Steakhouse
Aloha Steakhouse have locations in Ventura and Camarillo. They generously provide delicious food for runners after the event, which is always a huge hit. One of their owners Jim Avrea is a great runner and triathlete and won his age group on his first ironman ever and qualified for the world championships in Kona.
Salomon Trail Shoes
Salomon trail shoes are comfortable and extremely durable. They have kindly donated a pair for the overall male and female winners as well as the overall masters male and female winners. Salomon trail shoes will be available for demo at the event. Make sure to say hi and thanks to Bruce from Salomon who will be at the event.

Drymax socks are the best moisture management socks I have ever used. And on top of that they are very durable. Drymax has donated a pair of socks to all age group winners.
